I learned other traditions, assimilated old and new ways of seeing the world that ultimately lead me back to my grandfather, grandmother and the second World War. I felt this story express something about the trauma the past contains, and the heritage destroyed by progress. I imagine I will always look back on those conversations and this experience as a moment when life became unstuck from time. The ideas became lyrical, melodic and harmonic roots of a solitary journey toward what was lost.
